Birds of Alaçatı

an independent, unbiased, voluntary civil environmental movement

Founded in 2019 by Serap Yurdaer Erboy and supported by Elif Egeli Izmiri, it seeks to convey a broader and deeper understanding and recognition of wetlands vital importance and benefits, in particular of our home wetland in Alaçatı, Çeşme. It engages in developing conservation activities.

The initiative’s steady growth depends on the equally firm belief and support of those volunteers whose primary goal is to pass on to future generations our countryside and wetlands currently under increasing threat. With their help, we spread the word.

Our Aim

Know – Love – Protect, the keywords that should enable us and future generations to live in harmony with nature

Our commitment is to gather and provide information about wetlands, try to convince people of their manifold benefits, motivate major awareness and respect for nature and for one of the most productive yet undervalued ecosystems in the world – the wetlands: particulary Alaçatı, Çeşme, wetland, our homeland

Maintaining the balance of this vulnerable eco-system without human interference and pollution is our pioneering goal.

Encouraging sustainable wetland ecotourism is also one of our principles.

Wetlands cannot be protected without legal restrictions and regulations. Alaçatı wetlands must receive due attention so as to be protected by enforcing a legal status under governmental coastal wetland regulation. Its accomplishment relies on the united efforts between citizens, the local government and state representatives. We are committed to make this happen.
